Learn How to Meditate
Last week I related how I'm seeing-knowing things in advance of them manifesting- http://www.lrchouston.com/archive/age-of-intuition.php. This isn't the same as "manifesting a Mercedes", or the for beginners, "manifesting parking lot". I have two reasons why I feel this is happening. One is because of the epoch (Age of Intuition) in which we live. Personally though, I see it as the FRUIT of meditation and being still.
In the broad strokes of social history, we've moved from a HUNTER society to an AGRARIAN one. More recently we've shifted from the Manufacturing Age to the Information Age that is whacking us out. We're over stimulated. And for we who have had the task of overcoming our ADHD proclivities on top of the glut of information, life has been a real challenge.
Multi-tasking does have it's negative and dark sides. :-(
Other than "choosing to believe", I have no proof that the Lemurians communicated telepathically: primarily. That there's still a remnant (other than Indigo children too) who communicate via ESP (telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, premonition, instinct, hunches, sixth sense, gut feeling, vibe, etc.) is not strange. What is strange is that we're not doing more of it.
Who can explain the supernatural?
It's much akin to the Louis Armstrong quote, when asked to explain JAZZ: "If you don't know, I can't explain it to you." You see our LANGUAGE is not suited for all the ESP explanations. Language is geared to the five senses world, the third dimensional realm, and what I'm speaking of it "other worldly, fourth dimensional. I love the way Larry Dossey puts it, "Meditation takes us outside the hubbub of flowing, rushing time into temporal stillness. During meditation, we sense our connectedness with all things in the past, present, and future. In this state premonitions (intuitiveness: my word) begin to seem not only possible, but likely. They begin to make sense."
Meditation and quietness held together for few minutes and exercised numerous times throughout the day crash the barriers of time and nourish the garden of creativity and seeing beyond what the natural eye reveals. Listen up! Hear what the true self (within) is SAYING. After HEARING (phonics), the SEEING (photons) will follow. The principle is right there in Genesis 1, "God SAID (spoke) and LIGHT came.
Want to HEAR? Want KNOW-see in advance? Be STILL!
As a spiritual-futurist, I have a BA degree majoring in history. One cannot know the future without knowing the past which holds clues to what is on the horizon. The world is in such a rapid expansion of knowledge that we are close to entering a tipping point that will forever change earth as we know it.
Article Source:http://www.articlesbase.com/meditation-articles/meditation-births-intuitiveness-1112297.htmlMeditation refers to a state where your body and mind are consciously relaxed and focused. Practitioners of this art report increased awareness, focus, and concentration, as well as a more positive outlook in life.
Meditation is most commonly associated with monks, mystics and other spiritual disciplines. However, you don't have to be a monk or mystic to enjoy its benefits. And you don't even have to be in a special place to practice it. You could even try it in your own living room!
Although there are many different approaches to meditation, the fundamental principles remain the same. The most important among these principles is that of removing obstructive, negative, and wandering thoughts and fantasies, and calming the mind with a deep sense of focus. This clears the mind of debris and prepares it for a higher quality of activity.
The negative thoughts you have – those of noisy neighbors, bossy officemates, that parking ticket you got, and unwanted spam– are said to contribute to the 'polluting' of the mind, and shutting them out is allows for the 'cleansing' of the mind so that it may focus on deeper, more meaningful thoughts.
Some practitioners even shut out all sensory input – no sights, no sounds, and nothing to touch – and try to detach themselves from the commotion around them. You may now focus on a deep, profound thought if this is your goal. It may seem deafening at first, since we are all too accustomed to constantly hearing and seeing things, but as you continue this exercise you will find yourself becoming more aware of everything around you.
If you find the meditating positions you see on television threatening – those with impossibly arched backs, and painful-looking contortions – you need not worry. The principle here is to be in a comfortable position conducive to concentration. This may be while sitting cross-legged, standing, lying down, and even walking.
If the position allows you to relax and focus, then that would be a good starting point. While sitting or standing, the back should be straight, but not tense or tight. In other positions, the only no-no is slouching and falling asleep.
Loose, comfortable clothes help a lot in the process since tight fitting clothes have a tendency to choke you up and make you feel tense.
The place you perform meditation should have a soothing atmosphere. It may be in your living room, or bedroom, or any place that you feel comfortable in. You might want an exercise mat if you plan to take on the more challenging positions (if you feel more focused doing so, and if the contortionist in you is screaming for release). You may want to have the place arranged so that it is soothing to your senses.
Silence helps most people relax and meditate, so you may want a quiet, isolated area far from the ringing of the phone or the humming of the washing machine. Pleasing scents also help in that regard, so stocking up on aromatic candles isn't such a bad idea either.
The monks you see on television making those monotonous sounds are actually performing their mantra. This, in simple terms, is a short creed, a simple sound which, for these practitioners, holds a mystic value.
You do not need to perform such; however, it would pay to note that focusing on repeated actions such as breathing, and humming help the practitioner enter a higher state of consciousness.
The principle here is focus. You could also try focusing on a certain object or thought, or even, while keeping your eyes open, focus on a single sight.
One sample routine would be to – while in a meditative state – silently name every part of you body and focusing your consciousness on that part. While doing this you should be aware of any tension on any part of your body. Mentally visualize releasing this tension. It works wonders.
In all, meditation is a relatively risk-free practice and its benefits are well worth the effort (or non-effort – remember we're relaxing).
Studies have shown that meditation does bring about beneficial physiologic effects to the body. And there has been a growing consensus in the medical community to further study the effects of such. So in the near future, who knows, that mystical, esoteric thing we call meditation might become a science itself!

Article Source:http://www.articlesbase.com/meditation-articles/meditation-technique-842978.htmlOur spirits soar when we think of happiness. But like a lightening in the sky, the Goddess of happiness visits us rarely. The greatest obstacle between us and our happiness is not money, circumstances, people around us. The real hindrance is our negative thoughts which haunt us day and night and bring misery to us.
It is not very difficult to eliminate these thoughts that pester us. Develop awareness of the devastating effects of the thoughts and initiate the process of self betterment by investing few minutes of your spare time in the path of Self Improvement. As you pursue the path, you will be able to function at your best and enjoy a different kind of happiness that springs from the self within. It tastes sweeter than honey and the pleasures you get last longer.
The man whose energies (i.e. thoughts) are dissipated lacks peace and cannot achieve significant progress in life. On the other hand, the man who can maintain a state of inner tranquillity in all his actions and has acquired mental tenacity (by practice), to fix his attention on any specific problem and can hold the mind to that problem till it is resolved, is superior. Such a person can achieve anything on which he sets his mind. This is one of the important quality of winners and leaders in any field. We can develop this quality by practicing meditation.
Many of us have wrong notions on meditation and presume that it is meant for sages & saints who renounce worldly activities and retire to remote places. In meditation a person temporarily distances himself from distractions, but it is with the specific objective of developing strong intellect and to train the mind. It is also a power tool in coping with stress in everyday life.
The periods of meditation are to be treated as pace-setters for the rest of the day. It is possible to acquire by consistent practice a state of inner poise and tranquillity wherein we can open our consciousness to the innermost depth of the soul, which connect the individual self directly with the Divine Principle, governing the world. To learn this art, participation in rituals and external assistance are of little value. Apart from consistent practice, developing the attitude that all our material possessions (car, house, wealth etc.) have been lent to us for a while by God, would give fillip to us in the Path.
Meditation is the highest spiritual practice to revolutionize from within. Invest few minutes of your spare time in meditation and persevere regularly. As you pursue, your inner self will become sharper and stronger.

Article Source:http://www.articlesbase.com/meditation-articles/the-path-towards-divinity-825797.htmlWhat is Meditation? How does one achieve the state of Meditation!
These are some of the basic questions that a person asks if he or she wants to enter into the domain of Meditation.
A lot of people have wrong conception that only saints and yogis can practice Meditation, and is irrelevant to the rest of the world. They feel that a normal person cannot practice Meditation.
Well let me tell you that these are nothing but wrong conceptions. So let me explain you what exactly is Meditation and how can one practice it in his day to day life.
Meditation is mainly a state in which a person distracts himself from his physical self and goes into his mental self. He forgets, about his physical and worldly desires and concentrates upon his inner or subconscious self.
By doing so he enters his spiritual self and sees the world from a different angle. He visualizes himself and sees whether the activity he is performing is right or not. Another advantage of Meditation is that a person becomes a lot refreshed after practicing it. His mind becomes cool and peaceful.
Generally, a person gets tired by performing two kinds of activities. One is the physical activity i.e. labor work and the other being mental activity i.e. office work, studying etc. Mental activity being more tiresome, as mind is the one which controls the whole body.
It has been proved scientifically that if a person practices constant Meditation, his mental tiresome seems to go away easily. The person becomes more and more relaxed and thus can concentrate better in his activities.
Now, comes the major question that how does one practice Meditation?
Meditation should be practiced in a step by step process. One cannot master it in few days. It needs to be regularly practiced and performed.
For beginners, the first major step is to sit down calmly for 5-10 minutes. This eases the tension in his body. Then practice slow deep breathing, and while practicing don't think about the external world at all. Try to be relaxed and concentrate on how you are breathing. Watch your breath.
Do this exercise for a couple of weeks. Don't jump further. Practice it regularly. After practicing it you would find a radical change in yourself.
